I am Chief Inspector Ronnie Egan and am immensely proud to have the opportunity to serve as the District Commander for Chelmsford and Maldon.
I joined Essex Police in 1989 and have served in both the North and West of the County, as well as being seconded to the National Crime Squad (pre SOCA and NCA) and worked against serious criminality across the Country. I have a predominantly Detective background and am extremely lucky to have had roles in leading Crime Investigations, Intelligence management and more latterly the Counter Terrorist arena. Throughout this time I have kept close links with the Community and have had roles as the DA Investigations DCI and for tackling/ disrupting Urban Street Gangs , Organised Crime Groups and other Hidden harm areas. I had the pleasure of serving as the District Commander for Chelmsford and Maldon DPA twice 🙂
I have spent a lot of my service working alongside various partner agencies to continue to reduce crime and I will continue to do so in my current role working with all teams and partner agencies to try and combat areas of growing vulnerability, affecting all sections of the community , especially the younger and our future generation. I am also passionate about developing our staff and ensuring opportunity exists for all and am the current vice chair of the Womens Leadership and Development Forum and have been involved in this support network since being promoted to Sgt back in 2005. I was shown by my then line manager the importance of investing their time and support developing me and others as well as raising my awareness of this network and I wanted to invest my time back. I work with a great exec team and have organised a number of key events focusing on important issues for our staff today, as well as providing mentoring support to a number of officers and staff
I am married and we have 2 beautiful daughters who keep me in check and keep me focused on what’s important, especially as our eldest is now at senior school with our youngest staring in Sept and face a whole new set of challenges as they continue to grow a pace! I love all sports and I like a good run, although as I get older the more of a challenge it becomes.
