The book charts the big changes brought about by both world wars, and by legislation; particularly the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
In researching for this book, the author has spoken to many former police women and also delved into the police archives at Record Offices in London, Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth and elsewhere.
