British Association for Women in Policing

Amanda Davies

Committee Member

I joined Staffordshire Police in October 1993 and was based as a response officer at Newcastle Under Lyme. My career has mainly been based in the operational field with a few years in the Investigative world seconded to CID and Murder Investigations.

Operationally I have been the only female to head up the force tactical support department a role I undertook as Inspector for two years until I was promoted to chief Inspector.  My two years on the unit helped change the perception and culture of the unit and increased the female representation.  I went on to maintain my operational credibility and I am now the only female public order and firearms silver commander in force at present.

I am currently a Local Policing Commander for the Stoke On Trent area

I have previously been the chair of the Staffordshire association for women in policing, and have been part of the group for over ten years, I currently retain a committee role as events organiser.

I have a passion for developing people and trying to find ways to support and encourage them to be the best they can within the organisation.
