New President for BAWP

20/07/2010
BAWP is pleased to announce that  Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick  has agreed to take on the role of President. She will be taking over from Cambridgeshire Chief Constable Julie Spence, who retires from the police service in September.

Julie Spence, who has been BAWP president for 10 years, said: “'Women in policing have come a long way in the last 10 years but, as we enter a new era, I cannot think of a better person than Cressida to ensure women’s voices are heard and properly valued in the future."

Mortgages

19/07/2010
Advantage Home loans were popular with Police Officers just a few years ago as they were offering special deals to the force at the time. They are now writing to officers and offering them discounts of around £8,000 if they move their mortgage to a new lender before October 2010. However, Hanson Wealth has successfully renegotiated an increase in the discount for many officers to around £20,000 to £30,000, with the biggest discount so far being £55,000.

Any officer with such a mortgage should contact Hanson Wealth to see what savings they can make for them. There is no charge for this additional service.

Developing your 50+ workforce

09/07/2010

'Working Families' is running another of its excellent events on 29 September, entitled "50+ Understanding, Engaging and Developing your older workforce". At a time when organisations have to do more with the resources they have, the return on talent is more important than ever.  This, coupled with external drivers such as the changes to mandatory retirement age legislation, the aging population and the drop in numbers of young people entering the labour market, will fundamentally change the shape and makeup of the workforce.  Employers need to re-examine recruitment and retention strategies and consider how to engage with, not just Gen Y, but with the generation of so-called older (50+) workers. For full details please see the website
